acer v5-571 bios corrupted . need repair

hi, i have this notebook and i had to change the intel nb with a new one. after that i had to program bios, because it give me black screen. now pc power on, but i need original bios for windows install.

any help would be great.

what happened with update? what was version before update? in your dump is strange me version... details would help, it would be easier to help if you are willing to experiment, maybe i can help...

i dont know wich version it had. i got this notebook not working and i replaced intel northbridge with a new one. after solder the new one pc power on but didnt post , so i saved original bios and put bios from acer site and now it power on normal, but doing so ive lost windows 8 original key.

that's all i know about this laptop.

ok, take your time... for a while i had idea to test and try that win8 licencing sh*t but never had any laptop suitable... maybe together we can do it

u can use rweverything to see if serial is embedded in bios ok

ok, that utility didnt open bin file, it read your own bios in laptop directly, so i have to flash ur fixed bios, install windows and then give it a try. if that work, can i just save key file , flash newer bios and put serial back so im sure all other things of bios are ok ?

tnx very much for reply. this notebook is ok for testing, since it has the power on botton into mainboard. can use mainboard only with monitor+vga+keyboard by usb.

ehm, this tool does not open bin file, it reads serial for win8 from windows... all you need is to install matching win8 version (core, pro, enterprise), read key, activate windows (must be connected on net) and it shuld work... ive done it few times on Toshiba laptops
that will work if i fixed bios propertly

You can find the windows number starting from address 6945D5h from your non-working dump. Try to insert it into working dump to the same address.

how did you know where to look for? (part of FFF12B8D-7696-4C8B-A985-2747075B4F50 guid?)
for this to work i think whole guid must be copied

there are two bios on web update one v1.22 other 2.18
based on my expirience, those are for different motherboards, so i must picked wrong one :/

never done this before, never expected to work from first attempt

its not only serial important, its the certificate also
this is easy for win7 but win8 does it harder

or as khaan say i can save key from one bios and then swap to other bios ?

edit: now i could also update bios to latest version ( if this is not the latest) and save it as my original bios dump.

its latest version, and key is inserted, should also be visible with rweverything when you reinstall

umh if i left uefi mode in bios it wont load any usb drive and wont load windows. if i put in legacy i was able to install windows, but as soon as i put back uefi in bios it wont load windows annymore and also wont boot from usb drive. rw didnt show me the msdm tab with serial.

ok ive seen the windows key, but file version 2.18 is 13mb instead of 8mb.

you cant boot uefi if you install system in legacy mode
if you wont uefi, you must use GPT uefi file system partitions and usb and install cd myst be uefi compatible

as for bios on web, bios file (13mb) contains boot files and flash utility all in one file, bios file must be extracted from it...
