HP Elitebook X360 1030 G4 BIOS unlock request

Hi,
Can you unlock the bios dump of HP X360 1030 G4 for me, please? I did the unlock exactly as it was done on X360 1030 G3, but it seems that it doesn't work for G4 version or I might just messed up something. The other thing is that I have feeling that the bios comes back to original state (being recovered) maybe from some IC like a keyboard controller. Is it actually possible? I have no KBC programmer.

For some reason I can't upload bios dump file because of error:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.
If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

I managed to upload the file at ghostlyhaks forum (the same topic, created only because I can't upload here), but I can't upload it here. I've tried to upload the bios dump 10 times in zip and rar formats on two different computers and two different web browsers. No success. I'll try to upload the file again (tomorrow).

Thank you. I've already tried the same method of unlocking as you used, but it just doesn't work. I've tried also to modify bios a bit more but still no success.

After flashing with your (and mine as well) unlocked bios comes on without any image with fans spinning (exactly like in situation when the ME region is faulty), then after 20 seconds the image comes on with POST ERROR (Real-Time Clock Power Loss 005, press ENTER to reboot the system). Then it reboots twice and when I try to enter the bios it asks for Admin password straight away.

I've tried bios with new clean ME region, but it behaves exactly the same. It looks like this unlock is not done correctly or this G4 version might be recovering the locked bios from somewhere.

First byte is different on original and unlocked file (f1 vs 11 values)
Try changing that. Otherwise the unlock should have worked fine.

Do you mean changing first line from "11 00 00 9C 90 02 00 D6 00 00 00 05 FF FF FF FF" to "F1 00 00 9C 90 02 00 D6 00 00 00 05 FF FF FF FF"? I've tried that and it doesn't work as well.

Maybe the problem is that I read and program the bios IC in-circuit? However the dump file looks completely fine. Every single read and write was verified.

Do you mean changing first line from "11 00 00 9C 90 02 00 D6 00 00 00 05 FF FF FF FF" to "F1 00 00 9C 90 02 00 D6 00 00 00 05 FF FF FF FF"? I've tried that and it doesn't work as well.

I know what was wrong. I was reading the bios in-circuit and I just noticed that it wasn't correct read. So now I do not have original dump file as the original one is corrupted that's why it didn't work. I've compared dumps made in-circuit to dumps made from desoldered chip and these are completely different. It mean this bios chip must be desoldered before reading it. In other words I've sent you corrupted file and I'm in trouble because of not having original (correct) bios dump file.

I have another dump. However this time the dump is 100% OK. This time it comes from desoldered BIOS IC. Can you help me to unlock it, please?

I've found the way to unlock X360 1030 G4 BIOS. It's a bit different procedure than I know from previous HP laptop models.

I found the X360 1030 G4 is more complicated as it always use backup bios to recover password. Just unlocking the main bios and wiping the recovery bios is not enough. This is what worked for me:
1. Make dump of main bios. Get Windows OS license number - Look for hex "00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1D 00" or "FF AA 55 3F 00 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00" or "H.P._.O.A.3" to find Windows OS license number - it's usually at offset 018FB680 or 018FC570 or 018FDF50: 3WMBQ-....
2. Unlock main bios dump as usually on HP laptops ("U.s.e.r.C.r.e.d............" removal). I also suggest to replace ME region with clean one.
3. Wipe main and recovery bios
4. Flash main bios with Clean bios in MPM mode (no serial numbers, no machine name etc). Last few times I used this bios: "1 HP X360 1030 G4 Kazik + 12.0.40.1433_COR_LP_C_PRD_RGN MPM" so you can try it.
5. Install Operating System, update bios (download update from HP website)
6. Wipe MAIN BIOS again (don't do any dump this time). Don't touch recovery bios.
7. Flash main bios with original bios (without password + CleanMEregion). But if you are lazy you should know that I used this bios on couple machines and it worked well: "xxxxx2 12.0.40 CONFIGURED CLEANED ME + SN" (change SN if you need and change Windows License number).
8. Laptop will automaticly fix ME Region and update it to 12.0.49 (from previously updated Recovery BIOS)
DONE

I think there is an easier way to unlock these new X360 1030 G4 laptops, but I'm not specialist (and I also don't know how to get out of MPM mode). I shared with you what I know and what I've tested on 5 laptops.
