I found the X360 1030 G4 is more complicated as it always use backup bios to recover password. Just unlocking the main bios and wiping the recovery bios is not enough. This is what worked for me:
          1. Make dump of main bios. Get Windows OS license number - Look for hex "00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1D 00" or "FF AA 55 3F 00 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00" or "H.P._.O.A.3" to find Windows OS license number - it's usually at offset 018FB680 or 018FC570 or 018FDF50: 3WMBQ-....
          2. Unlock main bios dump as usually on HP laptops ("U.s.e.r.C.r.e.d............" removal). I also suggest to replace ME region with clean one.
          3. Wipe main and recovery bios
          4. Flash main bios with Clean bios in MPM mode (no serial numbers, no machine name etc). Last few times I used this bios: "1 HP X360 1030 G4 Kazik + 12.0.40.1433_COR_LP_C_PRD_RGN MPM" so you can try it.
          5. Install Operating System, update bios (download update from HP website)
          6. Wipe MAIN BIOS again (don't do any dump this time). Don't touch recovery bios.
          7. Flash main bios with original bios (without password + CleanMEregion). But if you are lazy you should know that I used this bios on couple machines and it worked well: "xxxxx2 12.0.40 CONFIGURED CLEANED ME + SN" (change SN if you need and change Windows License number).
          8. Laptop will automaticly fix ME Region and update it to 12.0.49 (from previously updated Recovery BIOS)
          DONE

I think there is an easier way to unlock these new X360 1030 G4 laptops, but I'm not specialist (and I also don't know how to get out of MPM mode). I shared with you what I know and what I've tested on 5 laptops.
Hi. I used one of these but experiencing start up delay.

Hi all, sorry I’m clearly missing something in this process- is there a start here guide or can anyone point me in the right direction. Similar situation, I have a 1030 g4 that I bought and it worked to start with but after a reset I got a locked message and now can’t get into the bios password area (f10) to remove it. I guessed at the files being something I needed to add to a usb drive as bootable media but no luck.

Appreciate I’m a total novice at this, just don’t want to be £400 out due to a Gumtree but. The seller obviously knew it was going to happen as they vanished and the mobile number no longer works

I bought the laptop, turned it on etc and used it for about an hour, then after a standard program update and reset I got the “your device configuration doesn't meet your IT department standards”. I'm guessing it's been blacklisted by wherever it came from originally, and I now can't access the bios or boot menus etc.

                              Since my first post:

If I take the battery out for a while and reinstall windows etc it then works again until it connects to the internet and then becomes blocked again

Looks like an activated Computrace (LoJack) in the BIOS settings to me (you can check if this is the case, if of course there is no administrator password set to log in):

"Computrace Lojack for Laptops is an anti-theft security package that can be embedded into a computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) and installed onto the hard drive of the computer system. In the event that the computer is stolen, the application will continue to attempt to contact the monitoring center and can report back with specific information to trace the location of the stolen computer once it connects to the internet."

Besides, you can't enter the BIOS? Is there a BIOS password set? Is it asking a password to enter the BIOS?

Yes, the bios password is set. I think if I can get passed that I am hoping a HDD swap and bios reset will fix it. I am basically trying to do what’s in this thread to bypass that password and update the bios, but don’t exactly know what to do to execute the process. I can see the files attached in the thread (Rar files) and assumed they would be bootable etc from a usb drive, clearly that isn’t the case. In terms of physical steps to carry out to try remove it what should I be doing with those files….if I should even be using them

Long story short, to remove the BIOS password you will need a programmer to read the content of the bios chip, then you must upload file here, someone will remove the password from the file for you, and then you can write it back to the chip.

By the way about the Computrace (if it is the problem in your case)- resetting the BIOS does not disable it, once it has been permanently activated resetting the BIOS cannot deactivate Computrace.

Perfect explanation, I'm guessing this process involves removing the chip, connecting it up to a pi etc then using software to sort it.

The only thing I don't understand is why it will work, just for limited time.

Good news is worst case the parts inside excluding motherboard will recoup what I paid

More or less yes, the whole process is similar to what you wrote. More detailed steps using the cheapest programmer available (ch341a) you can see here.

First you will need to clarify the reason for the problem, if it is what I guess, it works for a while until the program finds a connection to the server, afterwards the problem occurs.
