    GA-7vkml

    Hi all,

Got a GA-7vkml from a friend and noticed 4x suspicious caps:
    2x Buldging 1200uf 6.3v - GSC
    1x Buldging 1000uf 6.3v - Nichicon
    1x Leaking 3300uf 6.3v - Nichicon

Should I replace all caps or only these ones? And can I sustitute them with others? Local elec-shops only have: 1000uf 10v, 2200uf 10v, 3300uf 10v.
I've never done this before,so please bare with me.

what other caps 1000uf and above are on the board and what brands? Also do you have any 330uf25V which were common on gigabyte boards.

other caps may be bad but not visibly. read the FAQ section and then get back to us. Post some pics if you can.

local elec shops may not have the Low ESR caps required for the job.

          Re: GA-7vkml

I've got a dead 7vkml here too. 6 dead caps, all around the CPU socket. All are GSC 3300uf, 6.3v, 105 degrees c. 4 of them are leaking at the top, the other 2 are pushed up, but not leaking. I think we may attempt a re-cap.

re capped a 7vkmls. the on board video was unusable before the fix. worked perfectly after the fix.

Is it possible that these caps are the reason that my parallel port is not working properly?

I have 3 caps leaking near the CPU

The problem with the parallel ->
Using Win98 there are no problems printing a page(9-pin Printer),but there some eroor on the page sometimes.WinXP(Linux also) -> It stops at about 75% of the printing process and does nothing.

Yes, it's very possible that you could be having odd problems with it like that... but it could also be a problem with your cable between the computer and printer. Regardless, the caps are going to take that board out sooner than later, so I would deal with that problem first.

                  Re: GA-7vkml

Well , i havn't seen a post about parallel problems connected with bad caps .. so I wish bad caps are the problem of my parallel port.

I'm 100% sure that the cable is all right , because I tested on 2 other PCs.

BTW. Can s.b. tell me the capacity of
                  GSC
                  [LE] 105 (degrees)C
                  T29E

I can't see anythis else excluding this.(maybe the capacity label is in the not visible side of the cap)

Yes, it's printed on the other side.

um... they should be 3300uf 6.3v 10mm caps. I ordered 6 for my board from topcat. Nice Rubycons that fixed things all up...
