    Dell Ac/Dc adapter not charging

Dell original adapter 19.5v -3.34A - model : DA65NS4-00 is no longer charging, but it powers up laptop.

Tried laptop with another adapter, battery charged.

Opened the adapter, and tracked the middle pin of the connector, found and
IC 2929 C4381, with "0" voltages on each pin.

How can I check if the IC is failing, as no datasheet is available on the net ?

Is there any substitute for the IC ?

How can I trace further the issue of charging pin failing (no signal output) ?

Need some diagrams of Dell and hp adapters with 3 pin connectors, can anyone help ?

    thank you

meter the cable from the connector to the board.
if it powers the laptop then it works,
if you go into the bios it probably says "charger not recognised".
this is a symptom of a broken data wire, or a bad 1wire eeprom.

      Sorry, for the late reply.

As a feed back, it finally turned out to be a failing eprom "2929 C4381", replaced with a Dallas one, recovered from an other faulty dell adapter, it was recognised in the bios and charged laptop.
I discovered a curious thing after replacement, Bios specified 90W adapter, instead of 65W, it's probably due to soldering an eprom of a 90W adapter in a 65W one.

Thank you stj for your good contribution.

          it's a 1wire eeprom made by Dallas
you can use a pic microcontroller to replace it, but you need to program in with the right code for the charger.
