Looks like a TC or TP4056 lithium battery charge controller - For that IC pin 3 is GND, so why does this board have some tiny part on pin 3?

It is a ME4056 by Microne
Pin 2 is ground, pin3 is Program, the part off pin 3 is a resistor.

That IC looks much better, matches OP's circuit and logo.
The "4056" is widely copied in china but strange some have different pinouts. Note these have a thermal pad and need some extra heat to desolder.

Cheers guys & spot on RJ , it is a Microne manufactured chip .

Pin configuration varies from the TP version i initially tested .

Trying to repair 2 of these remotes , that have had a higher supply used .

Charging chips mentioned faulty on both .

One of them is now destined for the scrapyard in the sky , as main micro controller has an internal S/C .

Type STM32F030C8T6 , which also has an internal 64K programmable flash .

try to read the flash with an ST-Link or a 5v serial2usb adapter

Cheers , but doubt it would be viable for me to spend more time on the one with micro failed .

Will focus on the other as he only really needs one to work.

                  Time to abort mission .

Customer must had supplied such high voltage input , that seems all the chips on board have faulted .

Not viable to continue on such a cheap device .
