      http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/sh...ad.php?t=21285 tells that

the FETs or transistors are OK to use.

I don't really know how to check properly, can you tell me how? Here's a picture of the DMM i'm using.

Set the DMM to 200 ohms, not 20 Megohms.

How to check these? What DMM setting to use and where to probe black & red wires? Sorry I'm a rookie.

Flip the inverter upside down and hook the lamps up in reverse order. Does the dim part switch sides? Does the part that was formerly dim appear to light up properly?

N Channel FDD6690A seems a satisfactory replacement for the P2804BDG. The hard part is finding a good replacement for the P-Channel P5504EDG. Too far out of spec and the inverter will shut down. Parts that do run can run hotter than the originals.

Niko-Sem parts are easy to get in China.

There is no dim part, all the lamps lights up together. Test it one by one, also lights up. Anyway i tried your suggestion and all lamps lights up like before. I'm wondering why the monitor goes to standby after 'no signal' shows up in screen. Other folks have the green light all the time, just the backlights shutting off By the way, sorry for hijacking your thread.

Every monitor I have does that. It is a power saving feature. At least it is if there is really no signal - if it does that when there is video going into it then there is a problem.

Can you get into the menu before it shuts off? Some monitors will stay lit if you press the menu button right after it is powered on, even with no video signal. Others (for instance some Viewsonics) will not go into the menu if there is no video signal and will blank anyway.

                                            Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!

I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Westinghouse L2210NW LCD monitor - bad caps repair

Here's another LCD monitor repair: Westinghouse L2210NW.
Quick specs: 22” CCFL backlit LCD, 1680x1050 max resolution (16:10 aspect ratio)

I got it with a bunch of desktops PCs from a repair shop that was trying to free up space a few years ago. It seemed like a cheap monitor, so I didn't really care that much at first when I picked it up (and indeed it is, picture-wise.) But hey, free is free, so I can't complain. Moreover, it looked clean and the screen didn't have any significant scratches or blemishes.

Pictures of the monitor outside/case after a brief...

                                            Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
