So Im going to connect the solar panel to the SC ports, and the battery, I'm going to connect to the center ports but I'm going to connect the hot lead through a normally closed relay where the relay is actuated when the ignition key is in the on position. This should guarantee that the system is not connected when the alternator is running. And that last set of ports I'm going to just remove those wires since I wont be using them for any lighting of any kind... does that resonate with how you have yours hooked up in terms of properly identifying the ports?
Correct, the left most ports are for the solar panel, the center ports for the battery, and the right most ports for the load (not used if you're using it to charge an automotive battery, in my case that is where the cable going to my "control panel" for the lights is hooked up).

A device like this with a motorcycle battery would be really useful on a camping trip for tent lighting etc.

What's the USB port for? Charging a USB device?

That is essentially what I have setup in my shed, the battery is a CB12a-a motorcycle battery I've had sitting around for years (I ordered a CB12al-a motorcycle battery from Amazon a few years ago and they sent the wrong one [same size but terminals reversed] and since it was hazmat they didn't want it back after sending the replacement, since most motorcycle batteries ship with the acid separate it was still good so I figured I'd use it for something), though a dep-cycle or LiFePO4 battery would probably be better suited to the task.

After going through my switch panel (just a project box with 3 automotive switches and the volt meter on the front) it powers a 12v LED motion sensor light on the front of the shed, and an automotive LED flood light attached to the ceiling for interior lighting.

Well, I got the panel hooked up to the car kind of willie-nilly for the time being but the back of the car gets tons of direct sunlight for most of the day. I was really surprised when I put my ammeter on it and saw it was charging the battery at .94 amps ... almost a full amp! That's quite amazing for a solar panel of that size.

Thanks for the tip on that purchase, It's going to work out well.

Bosch 12V and 18V chargers modification
            by Petr0x
Hi, I would like to share with you small modification to your Bosch tool 12V and 18V chargers.

You can use it for almost all Bosch chargers what I have seen, for example part numbers GAL 18V-20, GAL 18V-40, GAL 1880, GAL 18V-160, AL 1820, AL1115CV, AL1130CV.

Bosch (today also other brands using the same system like Wurth, Fein) does not care if you destroy your batteries, because they can sell you new ones. So the marketing is telling you only about speed of the charging, so you will not wait for your batteries to charge too long. Me as a customer want the tools and batteries...

            Sell or Shim Solar panels?
            by eccerr0r
Well, due to my grid tie inverter not accepting high voltages, and the fact that the lions in my solar panels are 36V (72-cell) I think I need to stick with 72-cell.

However I have a few smaller panels that are 36, 32, and two 30-cell. The 36 and 32 together run at 75% efficiency (and subtract more with additional inefficiencies) when running in parallel with the 72-cell panels. The kicker is that the two 30s... generate 0% power when connected in parallel(!)

So now what to do with these small panels?

            I could sell them...

            Or I could shim them....

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
            by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

LED Solar Flood Light Dusk to Dawn Security Wall Street Yard Outdoor Lamp modifications are in order
            by sam_sam_sam
I bought one about a month ago from an eBay seller who now is out of stock however I found another eBay seller that has the same version of this device so I think about buying a few more of over a period of time

Awhile back I bought some A123 brand 18650 battery cells that are 3.2 volt battery cells that I am going to use in this device for more running time in a florescent bulb fixture that I gutting out the tube sockets and turn it into a solar powered LED lighting fixture instead

Pictures will come later when I have the lighting fixture gutted and have the battery...
