Troubleshooting L240AS-00 - fails every other time

    hi there,

I am trying to troubleshoot the ATX in question.
I have it connected in series with a bulb.

It randomly goes into startup trouble where the bulb turns itself fully on, only to work ok right after turnoff/turnon cycle.

I checked the primary side - caps capacities (including main filtering one), bridge, diodes, transistors, soldered off varistors. nothing blown.

the PSU is based on ICE3AR2280JZ, datasheet

Here's a video showing the behavior
    - first switch on - short / loop
    - second switch on - works OK
    - third switch on - short / loop

I would appreciate some guiding hand as to where to go next.

    Okay
I have two questions for you

When the power supply starts correctly want are the voltages on each rail

What happens if you do not have the light bulb in the circuit does it blow the fuse

    6 LCD Flat Screen TV
30 Desk Top Switching Power Supply
10 Battery Charger Switching Power Supply for Power Tool

1 HP Printer Supply & Control Board * lighting finished it *

These two repairs where found with a ESR meter...> Temp at 50*F then at 90*F the ESR reading more than 10%

Re: Troubleshooting L240AS-00 - fails every other time

      hi there!

so the results are all good
      3.3 - 3.41V
      5 - 5.06V
      5VSB - 5.11V
      12V - 12,13V
      -12V - -11,26V
      PWROK - 4,68V

Re the fuse & bulb. I looked into this PSU since it stopped working reliably (randomly turning off).
I blew the fuse during one of the trial runs - possible short of the probes.
Now I'm afraid to run the whole thing without it

by the way - if I don't short PWRON, then the 5VSB is always there and there is no short ...

BTW ICE3AR2280JZ is just one of the (at least) three ICs for PWM/PFC.
The other one is FAN4800A. The third one is possibly the same but I can't get to it to confirm.
