Hitachi 42hxt42u no backlight

Bought telly at boot sale, seller said it was working but turns out he was lying!

Anyhow turns on but screen remains dark. When I shine a torch through it you can see it displaying an image.

Anyone had any expieriance with this set or any suggestions where to start before I order a backlight perhaps needlessly.

can you start by posting pictures of the boards used in the tv also if you can take the voltage readings on the power supply connectors we can then advise you more
