Lightbulb Customer Database Software

Hi there

Can anybody please recommend any software on Linux or Windows that can store customer details, and with that included will be product info of repaired fault?

So for example

Customer info
Faults
Components used

You get the idea.
It needs to be searchable also?

Free would be great, but paid for would be considered.
A tried and tested suggestion, not one you have heard about.

Thanks

I think there are a few web based ones. But actual windows programs cost, and cost quite a bit

Hi Uraniam-235

I don’t really want Web based, unless it can be installed on a Local server but don’t mind paying.

I used to use a Database back in 98, but totally forgot it’s name.

Do you use anything?

I've used this one for ages...web based....but effective. Yes, it can be installed locally. I haven't seen an effective/efficient windows based repair tracker, ever....

Thanks Topcat

Does this software need programming skills, as I am not a programmer or a database Engineer.

Do you run Linux or Windows?

Thanks

No, it's pretty cookie cutter....but it's just PHP, easy to modify if you want. It likes Linux.....but if you're crafty enough, will run on IIS.....but it's a PITA and some things don't work.

When you buy it, they send you the source files....install took all of 10 minutes.

it stores equpment and repair info,
but there is a field for the source you could use for a customer name / number
it's open-source so you could add a field or 2 i imagine.

Libre Office Base - Free and you can make it do what you require.
Microsoft Access - Paid product, not that it cant be found the other way.
Then...C# and Windows Forms with SQL database driver, preferably MySQL.
Reason - MS SQL Express Edition is limited to 10GB of storage. Not that this wont be enough for you at least for several years.
There are quite a few web systems as well. Like OTRS ticket system. I know one Bulgarian that wrote one on delphi too. But for car workshops. Its free

SQL is obsolete, the author superceded it with Maria DB.
(fully backward compatable)

MariaqDB is a fork of MySQL, which are both relational databases.
SQL is a language.

Hi Televizora - Thankyou for the information.

I didn’t realise Libre could be used, I will definately look into Libre.

Have you heard of Spiceworks?
Would that be any good for the job?

Thankyou
