    Denon x1200w Shorted

I have a Denon x1200w and had the red blinking light of death. Took it apart, found one of the mosfets on the power board bad, replaced it. And all was well. Except the left channel was distorted and I realized I forgot to adjust the BIAS for that channel. So I take it apart and start to adjust it and my 2 multimeter leads come in contact and I see a spark and a pop and some fun smoke from one of the caps. Now, the mosfet on that channel is bad so I replace that and the cap that blew, however I can't get it to turn on anymore. I'm back to the blinking red light. Any ideas what else I can look at to solve this issue?

Attached an image of the area I shorted. I stuck the leads into the CN550 like an idiot, and the cap directly to the right of it blew.

    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Denon x1200w Shorted

My experience with these Denons is that usually the emitter resistors and possible some other passive components go bad when the PT is bad. Don't ask me how I know this, BUT if you only replace the transistor it will product a low volume, typically distorted, and eventually pop and smoke on you in a minute or two. You will need to re-test the power transistors for that channel as well as the passive components in that stage. You may also have blown the driver as well, so test back up the channel.

    The wonders of amp repair.

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
      by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Repair Denon AVR-X2600h power amp SBL and SBR channel
      by re-atari
A few weeks ago I bought a defective Denon AVR-X2600h receiver, wanted to use this one to find and fix a fault in my X2400h. This last part is already successfully done (turned out to be a defective TOP268VG in the X2400h's STBY PSU). So far so good.

As I like a challenge, I now want to try to fix the X2600h. According to the serial nr. the receiver is built in june 2020. The seller wrote in his ad, that he had bought the receiver in a defective state, and wanted to fix it himself, but could not find the time to do so. The receiver would jump to DC protect mode when switched on...

      Acer Alienware Nitro 5 (GH51G LA-L181P Rev: 1C) & Dell Alienware M15 (GDP50 LA-k452P Rev:1) - Both Shorted PCH (SRKMA)!
      by reessi
      Hello:

I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.

      I started on the ACER:

Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.

I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
      by spleenharvester
      Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

      Panasonic TC-P50S1 shorted TXNSC1EDUU (TNPA4782AB) SC Board
      by Yanleb
Hi every one. I just want to share the successful repair of my shorted Panasonic TNPA4782AB SC board.

I don't usually do it but so many parts were shorted that I decided to buy the ShopJimmy repair kit instead of sourcing each components individually. Here is the list of components the kit contained, with a remark indicating if I needed that part or not :

      D608, good
      D618 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
      D619 RF101L4S, good (See warning 1 below)
      D865 RF101L4S, shorted (See warning 1 below)
