This "not-so-old" (2008) nice Sony stereo system had the quite common issue with the PS in protection mode: the usual blinking of the red stand-by led.
PS itself was fine but there was a short on the +7 V line. After a while I found the C702 be the reason for the short: it's a 470uF 10V FOAI electrolytic capacitor (oddly enough that my MESR-100 meter didn't provide a notice for the shorted components).
I replaced that faulty one but the issue was still there!
So I checked the other 3 identical capacitors on the main board and I found another one shorted on the +9V line, the C508.
To be on the safe side I replaced all the 4 of them and the issue was fixed.
