    KFA2 GTX 1080 video card not recognised, no output

    Hi all,

    With the outrageous prices of new video cards out there I've put some more effort into trying to fix an older card (repairing stuff is always a good idea in my mind, but the learning curve for the video cards seemed steep).
    The video card is of GTX 1080 type (GP104 chip) that does not show up on the PCIE bus BIOS overview. It also does not provide any signal out on any of the ports (figures I suppose if is not seen by the motherboard).

    Card type:
    KFA2 EX OC GTX1080
    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-spec...080-exoc.b3837
    Symptoms:
    - Fans spin very shortly at power on
    - Card not seen in BIOS PCIE listing
    - No signal on any output (not even blank screen after a while)
    - Card stopped working the day after a decent gaming session. The thermal paste was pretty dried up.
    - In a system with on-board CPU GPU, the system boots fine, the card is not recognized.

    What has been tested so far:
    - Visual inspection of the board front and back. No visual burn marks, leaked caps.
    - No shorts measured on any of the power lines (Vcore, 5V, 12V, Vmem, PEX).
    - all 0 Ohm resistors and fuses are intact.
    - GPU, DRAM and VRMs become moderately warm, as expected in idle without the heat sink attached.
    - Following resistance without power and powered on voltages measured:

    12V = 12V
    gpuv (Vcore) = 0.1 Ohm / 0.8V
    5v = 14kOhm / 5.04V
    ddrv (Vmem) = 107 Ohm / 1.34V
    pciv (PEX) = 5 Ohm / 1.01V

    - PCI_RESET (A11) on GPU side of R46 = 3V3 (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=101866 by Foshland)

    Luckily someone posted the schematics for the GTX1080 of this type of board.

    Other info for troubleshooting was found here (for the Founders edition card)

    (Too bad this card does not have some more straight forward issues like VRM mosfet failures).

    Any idea where to look next? any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    doorzon
