Curtis LCD, Could i use this Cap for this cap? Please help.

Good evening fellow enthusiasts. I come here seeking for your help and advise. I am currently working on attempting to fix my CURTIS LCD TV (37")
Model #:LCD3717A. The TV was giving me problems turning on, after a standing RED power button it would go into a BLUE blinking without turning the TV on. On a usual day it would go from a still RED to a still BLUE when the TV would be on. After doing some research i have found that the power supply has two blown capacitors. My question to you is, could I replace the oem 2200 Microfarad 10 Volt capacitors with those of 2200 Microfarad 25 Volt? Or would that cause some damage along the way? Or should i just order the exact capacitor online and wait for shipping to arrive? I am sorry if this is such a novice question, i have included photos of the power supply, blown caps along with the replacement caps. I also don't know If these caps would be suitable or if not compatible. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

You can if it will fit, but the main key is that they must be LOW ESR/IMPEDANCE type for switching power supply circuits, using the general purpose may or may not work and will not last.
That NTE cap looks to be general purpose type cap, no ESR/Impedance spec, no ripple current spec (http://www.radioshack.com/nte-vht220...nLqRk&tab=tab1), also no need to use lead free solder, use regular solder and flux for better soldering works.
I use PANASONIC FM/FC/FR series for all my repair.
You should replace at least ALL those 9 caps, since some already went bad and bad cap can look normal.

yes you can. going higher with the cap voltage rating doesn't do any damage there. Watch the ESR!

Thank you for your fast response. When you say make sure that they are LOW ESR/IMPEDANCE. How am I able to tell if that capacitor is in fact LOW ESR/IMPEDANCE? The NTE capacitor in the picture above was purchased at FRYS Electronics, you say it's for general purpose mainly, so i should def. not use it then correct? I also did not know that a blown cap might look normal. Now im not sure if i should just order all 9 caps exactly the same or if i should go ahead and replace both obvious blown capacitors and see if that fixes anything. Thank you once again for all your advise guys.

It all depends on how long you are expecting the TV to run, how old the TV is and how much you want to spend to fix it.

Since you have those NTE caps already, pop them in and see if that fixes your problem. If you got more money to spend order low esr power supply duty 105C caps. I mostly use Nichicon (PW) and Panasonic (FR/FM) series. You can get them at Digikey or Mouser, etc.

You can replace the bad one with domed top first, the

you look at the link, it does not say anything about ESR/IMPEDANCE at all, it is it will say so since they can charge for more and if you ask the sales persons, they probably will not know what ESR is.
You can put then in for testing for now.
Here are the spec sheet for the PANASONIC, just measure the dimension, get the value of the cap you need then look at the spec sheet for the PANASONIC P/N then type in the MOUSER/DIGIKEY search box.

I had the exact capacitors gone with the same problem. I replaced them with these: https://www.digikey.ca/product-detai...1751-ND/589492 but didnt cure the problem. Should these caps i used work in this board? They have kind of low impedance.

PS board looks similar to a Citizen TV I repaired. Wasn't getting standby voltage and had to replace a zener and transistor.

If you are near farmer's branch, go to tanner's electronics. They have lots of caps, including panasonic, at reasonable prices. Somewhere on this site there is a list of good caps. find it and take it with you.. 25 V are ok, but 16V may fit better if they don't have the 10V.

So you're assuming the caps i put in were no good?

The LOW ESR cap you use in post 8 is fine, you may have problem beside bad caps and need to troubleshoot further.
