Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

I wrote several sentences of introduction, but the login apparently timed out somehow before I finished after being interrupted, forcing me to go through the forgot password process, after which everything I wrote was wiped out.

I replaced lots of caps in lots of devices after being exposed to Carey Holzman's writeup on overclockers.com years ago, long before finding this forum. http://fm.no-ip.com/Files/Pix/Sat/ME...25vcap0601.jpg shows why I registered. It's one of several SMD caps in a Linux mips-based STB that is less than reliable in normal operation. I'm wondering if replacing those with conventional radials might make it more stable in operation. Their less than flat tops make me suspicious.

Hello everyone. I am a new member to this forum, however I have read quite a bit over time and found the information useful. I have repaired computer motherboard and monitor power supply boards with bad caps and transformers. I figured it would be good to sign up to ask a question. Thanks everyone!

Hi. My name is Mike Jones. I came across this site looking for answers to a broken monitor... But in all reality, I have multiple decently expensive electronics that are no longer working properly. My dad is an EE contractor & worked out of my parents' basement for as long as I can remember, so though I did not choose EE as my trade, I grew up around it & still do side work for him to this day, stuffing prototype PCBs & even building a circuits on breadboards. I'm pretty decent at troubleshooting electronics for a non-EE. Just hoping to save some trial & error time here.

                                  Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum (and new to forums, in general, as far as being a registered member). I've learned lots from digging around and reading information given by others on here, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I look forward to my time as a member and hopefully will be able to contribute something, however minor, at some point.

                                    Hi everyone.

I'm new to the forum. I came here through a Google search. I'm having an issue with my 5 year old Samsung TV and this appeared to be a good site to learn something, and possibly posted a thread for help.

                                    Thanks.

Great job creating this forum, and particularly with getting users "qualified". Even from my cursory browsing, it looks like there's a lot more substance here than found on similar forums on other sites. Thanks for the work.
