    Re: Hitachi 50HYT62U no picture

Put ur meter in ohm mode check and see if any read very low ohms, one probe on each side of cap, doesn't matter which way around.

Ill get onto it now any report back, what would be concidered normal readings and what would be concidered very low on these particular boards?

All you have to do is to test the resistance of the caps, it can also be applied to any kind of boards when troubleshooting the problem.

And sorry if this is a silly question, but do I test with power on or off? Or is that irrelevant?

If you see any that are noticeably lower than the others you will know, last ones I measured were pretty much over 100 on 200 setting.

Always do resistance check when power is not applied, i.e. unplug the TV or what ever you are working on from any power source.
BTW. you do know how to replace SMD parts, correct?

Only SMD parts I have changed so far are backlight LEDs

                        50 Ohms? 50 KOhms, 50 MOhms?
What is the Ohm scale set to and what is shown on the display of the meter?

Sorry, I set the meter to 200, and the readings are for example 95.6

I do not expect any of those ceramics cap to show <100 Ohms.

There are quite alot less than 100 Ohms, so what would that indicate?

Need to locate Voltage test points on those board and start checking Voltages. Start by looking for 12V input and the fuse.

I camt seem to locate any test points on the driver boards themselves, nor a fuse??

Thats not to say they arent any, its just everything is that small, and my eyes arent the greatest lol
