    Curved TV LCD Panel Removal

Just wondering if there is any difference removing the LCD panel from a curved TV?

I am no stranger to removing LCD panels, I do a few replacement backlight jobs a week, but have never had to do a curved before.

I have just gotten a laurus ph-55curveuhd that requires a replacement backlight array.

Are there any tips / tricks / special methods involved where curved TVs are concerned please?

Repaired a Haier curved bad backlight and it was just a flat panel pressed into a curved chassis. Salvaged a Samsung curved and the panel was formed curved.

Ah, so there are differemt types.

Just being 55", with a flat panel I usually use a large bit of cardboard to keep it rigid, would the same apply with the curved?

Based on tips previously posted, I usually keep the tv vertical when removing the panel and lean it against the back of my couch. With a large curved panel, this would be the optimum way to remove it since you won't be able to use suction cups.

The worst part about it is, I cant find any info on what replacement array I need from the make and model number, so Im going to have to strip it to get to the strips, order them and they will take atleast a week or two from China, so i either need to store the screen out, or put it back together, then take it out again when the parts arrive, doubling the risk :/

You can use suction cups on a curved panel. Samsung in most cases we have seen is just a flat panel that lays down in a curved Tv bezel and the weight of the panel allows it to bow and lay in the bezel when you lay it back down. In most cases their are no tape or panel holders in place to hold the panel in so keep the outside trim bezel on until you get the tv turned over to hold the panel in.
