    PC specialist NL5E-N18EG

    Hi, i have the same problem, no more power and same coil is broken, how do you check if a mosfet is in short, and if you remember where was your broken on as my be the same on my one

    This question is best posted in the laptop repair side of the forum.

    Remove all power -> meter in resistance mode (start with the lowest scale).

    Then measure across the mosfet pins as follows:

    source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
    source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
    gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)


    If the meter shows '1' -> switch to the next higher meter scale.

    Post each measure & the meter scale used for the measurement.

    You are checking for a low resistance reading which often means a defective mosfet.

        All sorted, mosfet under the burned coil was burned also, replaced that and the laptop works again
