    820-00850 question about CD3215

Hi, have a 820-00850 board that someone remove one of the four CD3215.
It is stuck at 5v 0.24A in ports that are "working".

    I am confusing with CD3215.

I dont know if this board needs all CD3215 soldered or it should work with only 3 of them.

    Thanks in advance,

All CD3215 need to be present and working.

      Hi moon2, I've ordered a new one.
I hope there are no more hidden problems in this board, but nobody removes this kind of chips for fun.

Thanks for your help, I will update soon.

It would be wise to check for shorts on the board where CD3215 is removed, I know it's PITA, but better to check than do additional troubleshooting and face possible problems after soldering that chip. And make sure that you are ordering same chip as the other three on the board, like revision etc.

I don't provide help for people using CH341A and a clip.

Hi DanielDacko, I have read an take good notes and advises from logi.wiki:

I really appreciate all your help.

          Thanks.

            Re: 820-00850 question about CD3215

Hi, a new CD3215 is soldered and remains stuck at 5v 0.24A, as before.

All voltages for T2 chip are present.

It seems to me that data on U4770 is corrupted, so I have programmed new data into U4770 and now it is stuck at 5v but only 0.1 amp.

I don't know if new data is 100% compatible. (if I put old data into flash chip it returns to 5v 0.24A)

I would like to test a fully functional dump, but don't know if this board can work with dump from a different board.

            Any advice?

              Re: 820-00850 question about CD3215

What are the markings of the original CD3215 that was onboard ?

What are the markings of the replacement CD3215 ?

Check the LDO voltages of each of the CD3215 devices on your logic board. If even a single CD3215 is not working, the 20V will not be negotiated.

Hi moon2, the CD3215 is a CD3215C00 and has been replaced for a new one with same type.

I will check the LDO voltages of each of the CD3215 and post the readings.

Hoping that you have sourced from a reliable vendor or better yet, taken from a donor board and reballed ?

As many have posted here and other boards, these controllers are rare and difficult to source a valid component.

                    Re: 820-00850 question about CD3215

                    Hi, some more news.

All voltages in all CD3215 are correct, except PP1V1_UPC_TB_LDO_BMC in UB400.

There are 3.3 volts instead of 1,1. (but there is no short with any 3.3 volts source)

Seems that have to replace another chip, at least one more.

                    Thanks for your advice.
