    Samsung 192n no backlights

    Today's special, a decent looking 19" Samsung 192N
I swapped a working 15" NEC Multisync for it.

Owner said the backlights come on but no image displayed.

I tested first, I get power led but no backlights. Hmmm.

Disassembled, holy crap what a pain. CCFL connectors are covered in glue, as is the panel connector. Once I get that off and get the PS/inverter board out, it has one of those plastic protectors on it, took 3 hands and several 4 letter words to get it off.

I spot 2 slightly bloated Capxons right off the bat, otherwise nothing obvious.
There's some white crud on a SMD zener, but it wipes off and the zener looks ok.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be more than caps, but it's gonna need at least 2.
I have the boards out of a 172n, looks very similar, so I'll have some parts including inverter transformers if needed.

I replace the 4 1000 uf caps measure the transformers, and SMD fuse, reconnect and test.
    Looks good!
Will do a full recap before re-assembly.

    Cap measurements:
    1000 @ 25 945uf .04ohm ESR
    1000 @25 960uf .03 ohm ESR

    1000@10 28uf 6.6ohm ESR
    1000@10 262uf 3.0ohm ESR
    Attached Files
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....
Working...
