    Fsp300-60bt

I have this really heavy PSU from Fortron, and one of its electroytic cap - Fuhjyyu 2200uf10v is bloating.

There are other Fuhjyyu caps, namely 4700uf10v (2 pcs) and a few Teapos. None are bloating, but I'm looking at replacing all Fuhjyyu caps too.

How do I discharge the PSU easily? It was disconnected from the mains for about 3 weeks already, but I'm unsure whether there are still electric charges present.

Well-designed power supplies include high-resistance bleeder resistors, so that they don't add significant load to the circuit, yet safely discharge the capacitors when the power supply is not connected to the mains. If yours doesn't have them (and you can't tell without opening the supply), the safest thing to do is assume that it doesn't, use *extreme* care when opening the PSU case (to avoid an inadvertent electric shock), then discharge each capacitor by temporarily connecting a 10K, 1/2W resistor across its leads (about 30 seconds each). Your biggest concern are the large, low-value, high-voltage main filter caps (e.g, 200uF, 200V). To determine how long to leave the resistor connected, take the resistance in K (in this case, 10) times the capacitance in uF (in this case, 200) divided by 1000 to get the time constant (2 seconds). You need to leave the resistor connected for at least 5 time constants (in this case, 10 seconds). The smaller, higher-value capacitors (1000uF, 1500uF, etc.) will take longer to discharge, but don't have as high a voltage on them. For them, you can safely use a 1K resistor.

      Making a capacitor discharge tool
      by redwire
I'm making a new capacitor discharge tool. Asking for suggestions for sizing the discharge resistor.
Mr. Carlson's Lab High Voltage Capacitor Discharge Tool 1 is using 4 of 1kΩ 50W aluminum (mount to heatsink) resistors in series for 4kΩ 200W, so it's big, which is fine.
His Patreon but I don't have a paid subscription for the project details but it looks straightforward. The plastic box with aluminum plate can't get rid of any amount of that heat though.
Wirewound resistors can be overloaded by a factor of 5 for 5sec. and a factor of 10 for brief times. I've never tried say...

      Capacitor Discharge Rate Testing!
      by shagster
Hi, I have 2 identical capacitors from an old scope I'm trying to get running.

Both caps measure ok in ESR and Capacitance values imo.
Data sheet says tolerance spec is -10 +50%. And these are way under that.
Both of there original values are marked as (430uf 200vdc).
After ~40 years, they now measure 485uf and 465uf. Well under the +50% tol.

Anyway I charged them up to 24 volts dc and discharged them slowly down to 10 volts using a Digital Multi Meter. Funny thing was one of them just took over 4 minutes to discharge down to 10 volts. And the...

Hi community! I've a strange case.. Laptop HP Omen 15-ax with 11,55V new battery that dont charge or discharge. The battery coil with the battery connected ia 12,25V. All mosfets seems ok, i verify dont exist any short.... The laptop power on OK, even only with battery but it dont charge. I verify the volatges on BQ738H and it seems ok....i read the 2.2.3. Low voltage on battery charging rail post, but i dont be able to found the issue... Any idea guys? Thanks a lot!!!!...

HP 850 G6 discharge battery when turn off
      by Inforgalaxie
I have this computer that when the motherboard is turned off and the battery connected the battery discharges.
I've already checked the Q60002, Q60003, C6000 mosfes and they're not them. How can we detect where this leak is coming from?

This is another battery testing machine that needs to be modified for the cooling fans because these are noisy but not as bad as one of the other battery testing machines that I had modified recently because of it being too noisy

The battery testing machine is going to get two temperatures controlled cooling fans like one I put in the other battery testing machine I just have to remove the temperature sensor and relocate the temperature sensor to one of the heat sinks and put one on the other heat sink so the fan speed can be controlled by temperature
