    AcBel API1PC36 PSU

Pulled from an early 2000's PowerMac MDD G4. I've replaced the capacitors discussed in this thread:

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14077

The PSU still won't come up; on my bench, jumpering the PSU on causes the fans to spin briefly, and checking the optocoupler at M8 I see 5v, leading me to believe the PSU supervisor is shutting the supply down. I can't for the life of me seem to find anything wrong on the PSU, though.

Would anyone have any suggestions on common faults to check? Anything I might be overlooking? Does anyone know of a schematic for this PSU, perhaps?

Shock when touching power supply case (ACBel API1PC36 from PowerMac G4 MDD)
    by Snownomow
    Hello!

I recently successfully repaired two Apple PowerMac G4 MDD power supplies by swapping out bad caps, per excellent info found in various threads on this forum - yay!

I was doing testing on one of them, the ACBel API1PC36, with it's case open and had it setup outside of the PowerMac resting on the table with it's power connected to the system (power was also connected to a couple SCSI HDD drives, for a bit extra load). It was working fine, I shut down the system but did not unplug the PS from the power strip (and power strip was left on) so power was going into...

PowerMac G4 MDD ACBel Power Supply issues (API1PC36 400W)
    by Snownomow
    Hello!

First want to thank folks on this forum (Toasty, etc) for the very useful info I've found here that has allowed me to repair a PowerMac G4 MDD Samsung power supply and get this ACBel one working better!

I got a PowerMac G4 MDD for free as it was dead (not booting at all). I was able to confirm it was it's ACBel power supply as another (above mentioned Samsung) power supply works ok with the system.

With this ACBel power supply installed, the system would not boot at all, no power light blink, nothing. I've gone ahead and replaced the "12...

    PowerMac G5 ACBel 614-0303 buzzing
    by dcbw
The PSU works, but shortly after powering on (either in the G5, or by shorting the power-on pin to ground) it begins buzzing loudly. It also makes the LED lights connected to the same circuit flicker. It's definitely a buzzing, not a high pitched whine.

The buzzing seems to come from the high voltage side of the board, perhaps from the white relay. Could the relay be bad, or could the 5V supply be bad enough that it's unable to keep the relay on? Any pointers to help isolate the issue? Thanks!

    ACBel API1PC36 Support needed
    by kaydee
I recapped the power supply recapping the Power supply with Toasty's sketch (replaced all Shotgun, as well as "Other" caps besides C4+C5+C37). Somehow the PSU turns automatically on when I insert it in the socket. Did anyone else encounter this problem?

I would be really thankful for some advice.

    Best,
    Koray

    ACBel API1PC36 Capacitors Soldering Points
    by kaydee
    Hi there!

I took my time to identify the soldering points for the capacitors. This should be used as a reference with no guarantee!
