I've had similar issues on other ASUS laptops, and it's usually the bare copper link pads they use. They have no mask so are very susceptible to corrosion. So examine the board closely and check for any that are off in colour. Scrape with an exacto knife as often the copper is gone altogether. Bridge or jumper as necessary.
The one I did most recently had an open circuit data line back to the CPU from the ALC chip via one of these corroded test pads.
