I don't do anything that is demanding on video so I get low end cards from Jaton.
Jaton uses mostly Samxon and Sanyo caps.
    They just work.

I'll give it a shot...Again if it doesn't work...I have a spare 6200 in another computer that has integrated graphics. But I also could just buy a 6200 on eBay for $20.

Jaton gives me the chills...but I guess they work, so oh well.

I use a HD4650 on my main computer. I also don't do too much demanding. It was a $50 card.

Not discrediting you...just wondering if someone else had any input on the ESR matter. I think I'll do it, but if it seems way off, then I'll stick to something else I guess.

1/3 of a dollar is a lot different than 1/3 of a penny.
        It's .015 different.

        On ESR meter
        .007 shows .01
        .022 shows .02

Besides which, looking at the card, the caps are all either in a VRM type VR circuit or one with no associated inductor.
[Yeah I found photos of the card before I posted that...]

So polymers are still in the clear? Not that much of a difference I guess.

My first GeForce (GeForce 2 MX) (Received on October 5, 2001) was a Jaton and the heatsink seemed to actually be better than some of the higher end GPUs!

It would also work fine as passive. It was full copper (Maybe copper plated.)
I don't remember if it's a full copper one or not.

              the polys will be ok.
you dont need 1000uf there.thats what was used to get the esr desired in a cheap part.

That and the voltage was bumped up to make the physical size of the cap larger, and therefore lower ESR.

I could try downgrading the capacitance on the polymers, but the newer polymer series ESR are so damn low, I would have to go down to like 220uF to get 20mOhm...which I think is a bit too low.

                I'll keep the 1000uF I guess then. Maybe 820uF.

                  Don't need to.

820's might also be cheaper. [higher production size]

                      Finally did the recap.

                      Went with 6x 1000uF 6.3v Nichicon/FPCAP, 1x Chemicon 100uf 10V PS.
