      Re: ecu connector repair

Well, typically most connector pins are stamped out from sheet metal, folded and pressed into shape, and crimped on the end of a wire with some god awful expensive tool (hand crimpers can be $300-600 a pair). How the pins are retained in their respective sockets/plugs is there is usually one or more tabs that were pressed out the same time the pin was stamped. Pin goes in hole, tabs stick out, tabs grab sidewalls of hole, pin is stuck. The only way to get them out is to use a special tool that you can slip in between the outside of the pin and the wall of the hole its in.

Fortunately they are easy to make out a bit of spring steel. Yeah thats right you just got to about use spring steel to make one. I made mine out of the wire clip that holds a motherboard northbridge heatsink in place. I was gonna take a picture of what mine looks like, but basically the idea is to put a 90 degree bend on one end of it about the width of your finger so you can get ahold of it for inserting (ok more like force) it into the pin hole. On the business end you will need to make a slight bend downwards and then take a grinder, either a bench grinder or dremel tool, and carefully grind the spring wire flat to the depth needed to reach the retention tab leaving the bend you made intact. Be careful you don't heat it up too much, otherwise your tool will lose its temper and won't work worth a damn. The best way to visualize it is if you were to take a hypodermic needle and put like a 10 or 15 degree outward bend on just the angled point part (which that might work too). The idear is when you slip it in, the "tool" will make itself flat, but as soon as it reaches the tab the droop will want to spring back down pushing the little metal retention tab towards the inside of the pin where it will stay. Then you can just pull the wire out like its nothing.

Actually after googling check out the HTA tool in the background of this pic... thats how you want to make your wire look.

I don't know if pc tools will work for that plug but here is a source.

        http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=36094

That's the kit I use for PC repair,

        http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ath=60_143_272

The page it is found on w/ more crimps and extractors. If you need to purchase from them Performance PC's is an ok bunch. I've done business with them for many moons.

Worst case go to a boneyard and get the whole plug.

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Meaco Arete One / Deye Dehumidifier not working
          by CG2
I've got a dehumidifier that has stopped working. Plug it in, press the power switch, and it beeps 5 times. Nothing showing in the display (which is just two 7 segment displays) apart from the two decimal points flashing. The model is a MeacoDry Arete One 18L, which seems to be a rebadged Deye (all the boards are marked Deye). Here's what I've got so far (details in case anyone else in future should need them).

Starting with the power board. Mains power comes in at the red connector top left. The compressor is powered by the orange connector to the right of that and is switched by...

Toshiba Satellite M50-A keyboard connector on LA-A481P motherboard
          by michhak
          Hi guys,
i have a damaged keyboard connector on my older Toshiba Satellite M50-A laptop. I know there is LA-A481P motherboard. In attachment pictures there is a real looking connector and i also found a schematic to the connector. But i need help with finding a real electronic part to replace the damaged connector. e.g. on aliexpress (or different page).
It is 34pin connector and the length from pin n.1 to pin n.34 is 26mm. So it means a pitch length is 0.764 mm. I have seen connectors with 0.5mm , 0.7mm , 0.8mm and 1mm pitch length. But not with 0.75. Is it some special custom connector...
