    p2715q

hey everyone, i have a p2715q with what appears to be a bad backlight i think, as i thought it was dead until i plugged it in and hit the power button and happened to be at the right angle to see the dell logo flash on the screen even know it was very dark

does anyone know if it is the backlight it self or maybe something else? i havent pulled it apart yet as it may still be under warranty but i figured i would ask here just incase.

If there is no backlight... then the issue likely is the backlight (CCFLs/LEDs or their wires) or inverter driving the backlights.

Hard to say more without pictures.

If the monitor is under warranty, I don't see why you would trash it or even attempt to repair it yourself. Just send it back to Dell and let them deal with it.... unless of course they are going to charge you dearly for the shipping and/or labor work - in which case, just tare it open and start troubleshooting yourself.
