    Re: Samsung Syncmaster 225BW

I'm looking to replace all of the caps in 225BW with Panasonic FR series.
There is no 47uF 50V but there is 47uF 63V. It should be fine right?

    47uF 63V P15400-ND

    330uF 25V P14415-ND

    820uF 25V P14423-ND

      47uF 63VDC is fine.

I replaced (3) 330 uF and (2) 880 uF caps. I connected it while it was "taken apart" and it worked.

But when I put it back together, the same problems occurred ("analog" for a second, then black).

I took it apart, checked the connections, plugged it in again (while "apart"), and it worked. Put it back together again... didn't work.

          What can I be missing?

          Thanks.

Edit: I should note that I did *not* replace the 47 uF capacitor, nor could I even *find* the 680 uF caps?

Ok there is more than one board used in this monitor - If you post the board part numbers it will help or better still when you have it aprt take and post pictures:
            Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say bit about yourself - skills tools etc.

Turns out one of the pink wires was coming loose when I put it back together. Seems to be working now. Thanks for all the info, everybody.

Why would sometimes show the screen in red tint?

Pink tint suggests lamps are failing.
If connected using vga cable try a different one - check for bent pins.
                  clean both ends

I sold one of these monitors and the person called about it, but he said that will try something with it. I just want to know if I need to repair it again, what would take to repair it. Thank you.

Somewhere in this topic is the answer I used.

                      1. Press "down arrow" key.
                      2. Hold down the "enter" key for 10 seconds.
                      3. Turn off and back on. The redness disappears.

                      Hope it helps you too.

Thanks, but what we are doing with these button presses? Resetting something?

I think this way the EEPROM will be reset.

It can be done with that.

Looks like mine dying as well, it takes like 10 sec to turn on.

                                I'm planing to get these:

                                3x 330 = http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...613747?cur=USD
                                2x 820 = http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...613752?cur=USD
                                1x 47 = http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...266330?cur=USD

honestly this is a mess, bw225 has like 2 revision, and everyone is using different Panasonic! caps. Looking through the thread, saw like 4 different 330uf caps. Kinda confusing.

Hi, I have 225bw with a rev0.1 pcb that I replaced caps a while back. Now when I turn on the monitor I see an image for a sec or two then black. Blue light stays on and with a bright light I can see an image on the screen. I just read this whole thread but need help with identifying components to test as per retiredcaps guide. I have a Sperry DM-5300 Multimeter. I am very inexperienced in trouble shooting electrical issues. Thank you for all your help.

What kind of caps did you use for the replacement, general purpose or low ESR type? Bad cap can look normal but can have high ESR or low capacitance. Did you check the inverter fuse? You can have bad transformers, bad lamps, failed inverter circuits, etc.

If everything else check out OK on the board, then you will need to make a couple test lamps.

These were low ESR caps I think Panasonic. It has been so long ago that I can't remember exactly. I got the list off of this forum based on what others had used who had the same original caps as mine. Monitor worked great for a long time after the caps were replaced. Edit: see attached files for type of caps ordered and date. Inverter fuse checked out OK.
