    DV-PF4E(UK) Power suppy repair

    Hi
I'm trying to repair an internal power supply in a Hitachi DV-PF4E video/dvd combi player.

I've narrowed the fault down to Q1001 a N channel mosfet (2SK3566) which seems to be shorted, when powering the power suppy this takes out resistor R1043.

I don't have any of these mosfets but do have some FDPF5N50UT's would this be a suitable replacement?

I've attached the schematic for the DV-PF4E the power supply section being on page 88, I've also attached the datasheets for the mosfets.

I've replaced the mosfet Q1001 with the same part as was installed originally, but resistor R1043 keeps failing going open circuit.
Does anyone know what other component could be causing this?

Rather, Q1001 struck again, since you did not check the entire strapping of it, if Q1001 pierces, then it carries off the strapping, check these components.

I found that the transistor Q1003 was shorted between base and emitter so I replaced that and changed Q1001 again, but I'm getting a loud buzzing I think from T0011 the power transformer and still getting no output.

I do now seem to have output, the only voltage that seems low is the AL-30 all the others seem fine.
The buzzing is worse when the power supply is connected to the main board.

This text is from the service manual

When buzz sound can be heard in the vicinity of power circuit.

Check if there is short circuit on the rectifying diode and the circuit in each rectifying circuit of secondary side
          and service it if defective. (D013, D014, D016, D018, D019, D1008, D1016, D1030, IC1002, IC1003, Q051,
          Q053, Q055, Q056, Q058, Q1052, Q1053, Q1055)

Check if there is short circuit on the rectifying diode

Does this mean the rectifying diode's on the primary side?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
            by PantherDave
            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

            Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue

            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
