Sanyo fw65d25t no picture; good sound

Well I got this for $20 off Craigslist. I've opened her up and looked for the usual bad caps and anything obvious. Checked some voltages per the imprinted values on the boards. Took off ribbon cables and reseated all the other cables.
Have the bluish light on screen. Back lights working. Sound working. No menu or OSD. Upon disconnecting ribbons from TCON I get the bright white on either side of the screen. reseating those ribbons, I get some test patterns occasionally; but they are just for a second.
So I'm thinking its the main video board and/or tcon.
Any tests I can do to do I haven't? I tried the reset/service method of Vol - but it wouldn't even power on by itself that way.
Btw the power light is red and blinks a few times during power up. It is not blue or green at any time. Is that normal for this model?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can take some HD pics of the boards later if that might help.

Did you verify that you do have 12VDC at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON board with ref to GND?
Pictures of the whole backside of the TV so we can see what we are dealing with?

The SMD fuse is the white one with the K on it? If so, I didn't know what the proper number was. I will tonight. And take pics. Thanks

Yes, that is the fuse, just see if you do have DCV at both ends with ref to the chassis GND.

OK, the TV also has FRC (Frame Rate Conversion) board:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...9&d=1460166522, the board between the T-CON and the Main board.
I see at least one 1117 LDO Voltage regulator IC and some inductors for the SMPS on that board, the wires are in the way to see what else are on that board.
Please take the DCV reading of all pin of the 1117 with ref to GND to see what you have on that 1117.

                It is good.
Right now I cannot tell which board is bad, the Main board, the FRC board, or the T-CON board.

Thanks for taking a stab at it.
An online site has a "complete repair kit" which has all four boards for $99
I may just go that route. $100 plus the $20 I initially put in for a 65" led tv wouldn't be bad

These two circled in red read 1 on meter. Doesnt seem to coincide with anything else on the board.

Still plan on getting all four boards, but if anyone could give me some things to check, that would be great.
Is there no way to narrow down what's bad?
I haven't been able to find a service manual for this either.
                      Thanks all

                        these readings are not right.
the middle one (1.68v) must be one of (1.2,1.5,1.8,2.5....) not value between this regulator type (1117A) A means adjust so pin1 has 2 resistors for adj .
new 1117A will return voltages to normal .

                        thank you

It is adj 1117 as you can see pin 1 is not connected to Gnd,.Vout = 1.25Vref + pin 1 Voltage.
                            So 1.25 + 0.43 = 1.68V.

It is showing as 1Ohm on the meter or as '1' as in over range?

If you have scope then you can see if do have signals from the main board to the FRC board or not and so on.

Don't have a scope. Here's my question. With what I have tested, what are the chances replacing the PS, main, tcon, frc, and invertor wont fix my problem? I'd hate to spend $100 on all that and it end up being those thin strips along the bottom edge or panel itself?
These parts individually are more expensive than buying the kit. Obviously I'd love to just swap out the tcon or frc, but I've tried that with another tv and spent $90 to still have it not working.
                                  Thanks for all the input

At this point you can rule out the power supply and backlights problem because you are getting sound which runs on switched power supply that is turned on b the main board do we know the main board is not dead, but no pictures will be down to the main board, FRC, T-CON, and hope fully not the boards on the panel.
It is a gamble since you do not have the tools to do more details troubleshooting.

Since Im going to get all five boards in a kit deal, would it be wise to try one at a time or just replace the main board, frc, and tcon all at once?

Ive been looking for replacement parts. The kit I was going to get is out of stock so I am trying to locate the frc, main, t-con, and led driver boards. My question is, I have seen parts that are identical except for numbers. Could these work as well?
                                        Example:
I have attached two frc boards. One is for fw65d25t, the other states its for a proscan. They both have FRC-PL.MS6M36K.1 printed on them. The only difference I see is the chip numbers are not all the same.

                                        Thank You!
