My god!! If they made that in a 21 or 24" 16:10 widescreen, I'd be madly in love and would pay any price!!

If you will pay any price then the Sony Qualia range is there to service the desires of lottery winners worldwide.

I am a bit more realistic. If they would make a TFT that would replicate exactly a sony FD Trinitron CRT then my 800-1000 euros would indeed be theirs. No crap caps as well please. Widescreen would be a bonus. And no disgusting silver reflective fascia. Black please, no more than 1-2cm wide. I have used a sony SDM-X72 17" tft with silver fascia. Reflects sunlight annoyingly if the sun is at your back. Actually if we are dreaming then it would have to be black carbon fibre. yes indeed

The TFT sector is looking very interesting at the moment. I think by year out or Q1 2005 they will have a real CRT competitor. But the future technologies like OLED will give much better colour reproduction. The problem with OLEDs though is that some pixels age faster than others and it is difficult to predict.

just gotta teach people to hold back and vote with their money. Get them to hold back and buy when the technology is ripe. Not buy a series of progressively better units in the interim. Only then will the manufacturers understand. Anyway sony appears to be trying progressively harder. They have to because they have been in a bad financial position. One manufacturer to watch.

Technology really kicks my wallet's ass
