also i tried cleaning the contact with screwdrive in memory slots stil no luck
I normally use a piece of cardboard the same thickness as a memory module. I apply alcohol to it and insert and remove it several times. I'd be reluctant to rub any metal against the metal contacts of the DIMM sockets.
Only once have I had problems using 400 MHz memory with a motherboard made for 266 MHz or slower memory, and the problem occurred only when I manually chose the slowest memory timings in the BIOS setup. I believe this motherboard had the SiS 735 chipset (socket A) or SiS 645 chipset (socket 423 Pentium4 -- predecessor to the more common socket 478), both which are so old that they support both DDR and PC133 memory.
one of my 512mb ram faulty after use on this compaq motherboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. i tested on other motherboard also. memtest giving error......huh. what would be the reason to became faulty? stil bad cap problem???i measured ram voltage .it is 2.55volt
this ddr stuff is old now.not surprised it died.
the so called high performance stuff also has poor compatability with some boards.esp if you cannot adjust voltage/timing.
