The voltage rating is a limit so using a cap with little higher rating isn't a problem.

If any of the caps are partially shorted some of the amps that should be going to the fan may be bypassing it by going through the cap.

Polymer of appropriate ratings should work fine to replace FZ.

Samwha RD series is good ? I found 1000uF and 1500uF at my local store.

        Samwha not good.
        Find a Japanese brand.
        .
        Rubycon
        Chemicon
        Nichicon
        Panasonic [Matsushita]
        Sanyo
        Suncon
        NIC Components
        Elna
        Fujitsu
Samxon [not Jap but their higher grades are okay]
        .

If you do ebay this guy has some in good brands that aren't fakes.

            Not a great choice.
            - That one is only 12.5mm long and that makes Ripple/ESR 1540/.025
            - The FZ you are replacing has Ripple/ESR at 1800/.022

ESR should be same or less - Ripple should be the same or more.
There is no such thing as too high a Ripple rating.
The Ripple Rating does not affect the circuit, just gives the max Ripple the cap can handle without overheating internally.
            -
Too high an ESR reduces how much Ripple [noise] gets removed. [Bad]
In some cases too low an ESR can cause problems because the ESR works with other components.
Lower ESR is better but don't go nuts with that idea or you may find one of those 'some cases'.

            I would use either:
            - The 10x16mm HM [PN: UHM0J152MPD3] which has Ripple/ESR at 2000/.018.
            - The 10x12.5mm HZ [PN: UHN0J152MPD] which has Ripple/ESR at 2280/.012.
[I would choose the HM unless height is a big problem. I'm thinkin it's not if the 15mm you picked for the 1000uF works. They are only 1mm different.]

            --
            BTW:
You aren't doing bad at all for a first time doing this.
Lining up all the planets [specs] at the same time takes a bit of practice.
            .
Hello! I wonder if I could get help again.
I received another videocard with blown caps. It's GeForce 8400GS "silent". Don't know of which manufacturer - does not say.

I guess it's there are FZ caps again
            - 2x FZ67 1500 6.3V
            - 1x FZ67 470 16V

Threre is also cap that does not look blown but i can see little "dirt" on heat sink. On back of card where are pins looks blown. (like other FZ's)
            - nichicon 6.3V 1000uF HM(M) 105°C A0542

And there is also one small cap that does not not have any sign of blowing
            - GD77 100 16V

p.s.: Thank you very much for help!

Yup, those are Sacon FZ. Don't replace just the bulged ones, replace ALL Sacon FZ because they will fail eventually.
Also, when you list the caps, measure the diameter and height (in mm) for each. Standard sizes are usually 6.3, 8, and 10 mm.

Since you're in Slovenia, I'm not sure where would be the best place to get caps. IIRC badcaps.net (this website) has international shipping for $8.

In any case, when picking the replacements, there are 2 other very important parameters to match besides the capacitance (uF) and voltage (V) - those parameters are the ripple and ESR (sometimes also listed as impedance).
When choosing replacements, first find the data sheet for your capacitors. PCBONEZ already posted one for your capacitors, found here:
              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...7&postcount=67
Then look for replacement capacitors that have the same or lower ESR and the same or higher ripple current rating.
This thread lists most of the low-ESR capacitors available for motherboard and PSU recaps:
              https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2280

If you decide to buy from the BCN store here, these should work for the 2x 6.3v, 1500uF FZ caps:
              https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...roducts_id=147
And for the 16v, 470uF caps, use these:
              https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...roducts_id=148

yay, i'm ressurecting an old thread. I have a neighbor with two of these xfx's and all the same caps went bad. One 'popped' and then the other 'popped' a few weeks later

he also knocked off one of the surface mounted polys on a 7600, had used adhesive alumn going from the top of the heatsink to the cap to try to keep it on, no biggie

hes trying to get XFX to send him something else, but they told him since he didn't 'register' them, the lifetime warranty is void

I did a google search for these cards and bc was one of the first things that came up, of course

If he fails at getting replacements, which he will, i'm going to use nichi HZ's for the 1500 6.3's and HN's for the 470 16's

Re: Blown (FZ78 1500 6.3v) on XFX 8600 GT. What to buy?

Hi guys i have an 8600 that was killed the say way..well when i say killed i took it out before it actually failed, but after i heard the 2nd pop i knew something wasnt right.

Like this chap i have had a FZ74 1000 6.3v blue capacitor blown, as well as the 1600 6.3v.

Since i know about this problem im thinking of recapping all of the FZ ones here (pretty much all the ones with the K on the top)

Id like to buy it from ebay, with the previously suggested seller here

                  http://stores.ebay.com/PC-MotherBoar...=p4634.c0.m322

I had a predisposition with sanyo before (because i use eneloops and theyre awesome) but from what i understand as long as its japanese, they should be great.

                  So questions:
1 Should i replace all the capacitors or just the ones with the FZ on them?
2 The black ones with 69 on the top, who are they made by and should i replace those?
3 can people suggest which are the ones i need to replace all the capacitors? should i keep the colours the same? i have no idea about the colours but i understand theres a difference in the colour coding. i tried to read up but didnt really understand it.

                  Thanks in advance

                    Just replace the FZ ones.

Use these for the 1500uF caps, and these for the 1000uF caps. I think this card also has some 470uF 6.3V Sacon FZ caps. Replace them with these

what about solid state ones? can you suggest those? i prefer using them if possible, i believe the reason the gigabyte motherboards are so reliable is partly because theyre using all japanese solid state caps.

Sacon FZ are not polymers, they're electrolytics made to look like polymers.

You're in Australia, I think you have free shipping on Farnell...

All the ones below will be good to replace those FZ.

For reference, from best to less good ... the series are HZ > HN >= FM/FR >= HM

                        polymer 1000uF 6.3v : http://au.element14.com/nichicon/rl8...-3v/dp/1854125

This one's just as good or better than the Sanyo polymers. Farnell doesn't stock the 1500uF polymers (in a good series, the Nichicon HD polymers aren't good) ...

                        electrolytics

1500uF 6.3v (some may seem the same capacitor, but there's difference in diameter and height)

Or, if you wanna use ebay, replace both the 1000uF and 1500uFs with http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Nichicon-L...item45fdff1b5c. Remember, when you polymod, you can generally reduce the capacitance.

Hey guys, I've got the exact same card an XFX 8600GT with the same problem.

Can anyone help me pick the correct caps from here?

                              http://uk.rs-online.com/web/

I'm a bit worried that I'd choose the wrong ones.

                              Caps:
                              FZ78 470 16V
                              FZ78 1500 6.3V
                              FZ77 1000 6.3V

                              Thanks for any help

RS don't have anything suited to replace Sacon FZ. If you want to order from within the UK, you'll have to go with Farnell/Element14. Here's what I would recommend as replacments for the capacitors listed:

                                470uF 16V - http://uk.farnell.com/nichicon/uhn1c...ial/dp/1899713
