    Measuring ESR using cheap multitester

    Hi,

I'm trying to fix a Hitachi plasma TV.

I bought this in order to help fix a lot of things........

Does anybody think that this wouldn't do a good jb of measuring ESR's?

    TIA

It's listed on ebay as LCR-T4 Digital Transistor Tester

P.S., as far as I can tell, ESR of 0.3 = bad cap, correct? The ESR value that I think it should be for a 680uF, 100V cap should be 0.1.

It actually does a bunch of stuff automatically!

So I'm going to move forward and keep testing.

Did you look up the spec of the cap to see if it is general purpose or low ESR type?

            i would recommend the "T7" i think it's called,
cased with colour display and polymer battery.
even has a boost convertor for testing zener diodes.
