I recently acquired a Nikon D40X body, and it didn't come with a battery. I tried hooking up a power supply to the contacts and got the dreaded "Can't use this battery" because of the counterfeit battery security code on the firmware.
Is this defeatable so I could use a power supply? I'd hate to buy a battery and find out this body is broken some other way, plus I already have a D5100 which has the same problem: I cannot power via AC adapter, have to use batteries. But yeah hopefully the D40X won't blow up my D5100's lenses, though they should be compatible...
