That is a keeper, it is not cheap stuff. You should download the user/service manual.

I don't have one, but the HP power supplies are held in very high regard by eevblog members. Dave did a video on it.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Happy New Year budm. It just turned 12:01AM as I saw your message.

I'm just re-watching Dave's video and think I see Nichicon capacitors in the PS. It looks pretty well built inside.

You can use it to power up the main board and check the current draw, and to find out if it is sending the PS_ON, BL_ON, etc without the power supply board (unless the main board needs the AC OK or other error feedback signals).

Like any tool, you should test it out and make sure it works on stuff you don't care about.

It is easy to provide too much voltage or current if you don't know what you are doing and ruin the main board with too much of either.

                    Re: Agilent power supply

Personally I don't like this line of supplies because they do not have a current crowbar. Anything that puts out d.c. and has metering does the job, but must have an adjustable current crowbar to protect the stuff you are testing.
                    Is it plugged in?
