    How to solder in CPU VRM area?

    Well, yeah, how do you solder in that area?!

    I have the LF-8800 (de)soldering station but I'm somehow unable to desolder an unused cap space (get rid of the solder in those holes).

    Desoldering caps works somehow, not great but I can live with that result...

    Is there anything I can do to get rid of that solder in that hole?

    I also tried some (rather cheap I think) solderwick - not much luck with that either...

    heat the other side with hot air or an iron.

      Add some 63/37 pb solder to lower the melting point of the lead free solder.

        Thanks stj, will try that next time...

        @clearchris
        I only have PbSn40 here
        And SN60PbCu2/zh

        But that board was pre RoHS anyway

          I use ordinary transformer solder iron and dental explorer. This or similar

            Yeah, any Pb solder will lower the melting point of lead free solder. 63/47 just has the lowest melting point of the pb/sn solders.
