Re: Sony XBR-65X900E 4 Blink Code

if you have a multimeter and want to test it, test voltages at cn6401, what is the voltage of bl-error and list any others that do not match the map/legend next to it.

testing procedure there if needed, as always be very careful what you touch on the powerboard, there is some potentially DEADLY voltage on the hot/primary side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH9GfkGQX1I

Re: Sony XBR-65X900E 4 Blink Code

I unhooked the boards and do not see any failed capacitors or burn marks anywhere. Plugging the boards back in did not change anything, still 4 red flashes.

CN6401 voltage all seem to match the legend when the tv is powering on.

bl_err is at 0.028v when the tv is powering on, but then goes to 0.003v when the red light flashing 4 times.

ok, so the backlight error is very low, I think that is ok, now maybe check that you have voltage leaving the led driver board and going into the mainboard.

can also test those little mlc caps on the ld/led driver board, see if any test short, can put a probe on each end or put neg. probe on chassis ground and pos. probe on each end, one side will have continuity, beep if you have a meter that beeps and the other side will show a reading or not beep if ok.

Where would I check for the led driver voltage? I only see a flat ribbon connecting it to the main board.

No shorts on the capacitors on the led board.

Storytell12 do you remember what your bl-error voltage was?

ok, I see yours is a little different than my 900C, mine has an additional board inbetween the powerboard and the led driver board.

try unhook cable from powerboard to led driver board leave it off, then plug tv into power and try it, see if you still have the 4 blinks.

yup, still 4 red blinks with that cable disconnected.

ok, I watched a Nick's video, he says that could be a mainboard issue.

check all the little mlc capacitors on the mainboard, none should read short.

The part 2R2 and the cap to the right of it beep to ground on both sides on my multimeter.
Everything else on the mainboard only beeps on one side.

ok, I think you have found the problem, I'm no expert, some may have better advice, I think I would take the cap off and see if it reads short out of circuit.

You have a short circuit on this capacitor or just a low resistance (how many Om?) And if it were short, the F4000 (3A) fuse would blow.

forgot to mention to have the other boards disconnected from mainboard while testing those caps so its isolated and no potential errors are coming from the other boards.

2R2 is 4 ohm on one side, OL on the other.
the little cap is 4 ohm on one side and 0.4 ohm on the other.
The main board is not connected to anything.

yep, that 4 ohms seems way low, probably something making it read that way, is that fuse ok? the fuses are tiny on my board, there's probably a few on the board, check it for continuity, a fuse that reads short is a good fuse.

2R2 is a coil (inductor) it should show the same resistance on both sides.

the part by the F4000 wording does not beep when I put the probes on both sides of it.
I guess I thought that was a capacitor since it only beeped to ground on one side.
