Re: This guy has an RCA 42PA30RQ

OK, you can use that but I recommend a fixed 10X probe. If you switch it to 1X you risk damaging the scope.
I use my 1102E to test plasmas too.

Re: This guy has an RCA 42PA30RQ

I have a good set of probes with 1x ref and 10x. way better than stock that came with my scope...It locks in the 10x setting

I don't have an Isolation transformer, can it be done without that???

On the Y-main and X-main, yes, they are isolated from the mains power.

Re: This guy has an RCA 42PA30RQ

                Scope:
                - CH1 ON, CH2 OFF
                - DC coupled
                - BW limit ON
                - 10X probe
                - 100V/div
                - 10ms/div
                - Acquire mode: Long Mem
                - Set trigger to a few volts above VSCAN (will be indicated on PDP)

                Probe:
                - Set to 10X. Do not set to 1X.
                - Probe topmost lead of C5035 on Y-main. It's a poly film cap near the outputs to the buffers. Topmost as installed in TV.

Use the Rigol's screenshot feature and upload a pic of what you see when TV is powered on.

Leave it in the settings I said. You are seeing "essentially" zero.
