SCHLEUNIGER CO207 - Potentiometers on the PCB out of adjustment. How to set them?

    Hi,

I need help setting up the cable stripper - Schleuniger CO207.

After contacting Schleuniger directly and their distributor for Poland - Kabeltch, I received 2 PDFs with instructions/documentation. Many thanks to both companies for this help. In these PDFs there are instructions for setting up and calibrating individual components of the device, but my problem lies on the PCB.
Well, the person who used this device before turned all five potentiometers on the PCB, which caused the Schleuniger CO207 to go crazy. Of course, no one knows how they were originally set up and there is no such information anywhere.

Maybe someone has access to such a device, could open it and measure these potentiometers? On this basis, I could set the same resistance at home and it would be a good start for further setting CO207.

Here is something you could try as a starting point

Put all pots in the center position and determine what pot adjusted does what and then adjust in one direction and see the results and then turn it in the other direction and determine about where it should be now some pot controls might be for speed and some might be for how far something travels need to make a chart of what each pot controls

This is what I would do if you can not find a manual for this device

If you have the setup procedures can you post them I might be able to help you with them

      Thank you for your response.

I forgot to attach the instruction files to the previous post. I'm making up for it now and attaching both versions I got.

As far as setting the potentiometers in the middle position is a pretty good idea. I've already tried to figure out which potentiometer does what, but without much success.

What happened to the machine for the pot controls to mess with

When adjusting a pot control you need to figure out what that pot control does for it to make sense where you see the paint blobs are is a good place to start from ( but this depends on how many turns you have to make for a change to happen )

By any chance did you losses the memory of the machine and this the reason for messing with the pot controls this is a no no especially with a machine that has a memory cells it is going to very difficult to get those pot controls to be set correctly I am not saying that it is impossible but you are going to have a lot of patience doing this

What should have happened is if it lost the memory is that you go through the recalibration procedures and when you have it for the most part function - mostly - correctly - working then you adjust the pot controls ( but this should be the last thing that you would want to do ) but only enough for it to make a change if no change is not noticed move it back to where it was originally and go to the next pot control and so on until you have the machine working correctly again

Here is my guess to what one of the pot control does is it might control how much force is applied to the cable that is being stripped one pot control might be for motor speed if this is the case then only adjust this pot so has enough speed to strip the wire ( the force one should be adjusted so that it does not go into the wire it self ) the other pot controls might be for other motors if it has more than one

The whole situation started with a problem with the cable grippers. After the work cycle was completed, they did not let go of the cable.

My colleague from work, instead of coming to me and asking what to do about it, decided to solve the problem himself. He partially disassembled the gripper mechanism as well as the area around the sensor assy. Cleaned, put together without any calibration instructions.

As you can imagine, it didn't solve the problem, it only made it worse. Then he noticed these 5 potentiometers and started to spin them completely pointlessly.

I already set the grippers properly and they work fine. Unfortunately, all the rest of the regulation is completely messed up.

The issue with these pot controls is that they are multi turn pot so you need to determine how many turns dose it take to go one travel direction to the other direction and then divide by two and start from there ( or use an ohm meter to do this part ) but like I said earlier this is going to take time to get them back where they should be

One note if these motor are stepper motor then this is going to be harder to do but not impossible to do but adjusting it is going to be a little different than a regular motor would be

With stepper motors you want the motor to run smoothly and not jumping or chattering so one pot control might be for jumping/chattering and one pot control for steps per second which would be for speed and there might be for torque as well this is a little bit hard to adjust and get correctly done so it works correctly

Completely does not keep the set length and diameter of the cut. And I can't make sense of it.

Check where the battery for the memory now it might not be battery it might be a memory chip ic with a battery inside of ic chip and you would have to replace the ic chip

the pots may be related to sensors to read the cut depth/applied force.

i would give it back to the other guy to "fix"
or ask the makers for a schematic or service manual

If the problem lies somewhere deep in the electronics, I prefer to leave it to a specialist.

                      My tests show that:
1 - set in the middle + two turns to the right - causes the device to start working on its own and works endlessly
2 - probably setting the start position of the head (but I'm not sure)
                      3 - I have no idea
                      4 - I have no idea
5 - set in the middle + two turns to the left -

As I wrote in the first post - I contacted the manufacturer in Switzerland and the local distributor for my country. Both companies only sent me manuals (which I attached to the entry). I suspect that service manuals and diagrams either no longer exist or are a secret.

They are probably secret and if this the only recourse is do what you are doing with the pot controls until you have satisfactorily results and keep tweeting the pot controls for the best results that you possibly can get and the best that you can do with out the recalibration procedure to get it the way the factory settings

One thing that I would also do is do the recalibrate the dies and the tool movements and make sure that they function properly and are easy to move in position and back to the rest position by hand

Pot number 2 keep turning more than 2 turns in one direction and what does work right then see what happens when you go in the opposite direction and how does it work correctly until you understand what that pot controls do

Now for pot controls keep turning one in one direction until either one of two things might happen either something stops working properly then go in the opposite direction until it stops working properly again but watch very closely what stops working properly and when you have how far in each direction it causes it to malfunction then set that pot between the the two ex streams and put it in the middle of two ex streams
This would be the best that you can do
