Lenovo Flex 6 14ARR just died

My Lenovo 6 16 just DIED before I had to show a customer of mine a program for him. First no screen, then no power.

Already did a cmos reset button for 30 secs while ac/batter disconnected, disconnecting everything but the power switch ffc,

took ssd and ram out (we're taking about dead, no power, no NOTHING). I loved this thing, even though it had sleep issues-turns out that is a common issue for this one).

This is what i'm going for next (until at least they get the 512GB ssd in neweggs stock, cause the third party seller has the 512gb more expensive than the 1tb)

    https://www.newegg.com/grey-with-blu...82E16834155448

never used the old one except for light gaming (only can do so much with a Vega 8 on a 2500U). barely even fallout 3. Probably will not use it much for gaming. Though I doubt I can use the onboard CPU instead of the GPU for windows to save power. I don't think Nvidia Optimus exists anymore

I just read that thing does NVME with two pci-e channels instead of the usual four

still trying to find money for it

People say I should go for ryzen 4000 series but there aren't many

So no attempt at repair, with nothing to lose but a bit of time ?

aside from testing the fuse (which was fine), I don't have much experience with board-level repair of laptop boards, especially ones of this miniature build.

Can you poke around random (regulated) power points on the board (with a 'scope) while trying to turn it on? I.e., to see if it is TRYING to come up (and quitting) vs. "just plain dead"? Fans, disk, indicators... anything that might "blip"...

You can also try removing anything that is socketed in the hope that it will COMPLAIN.

Experience has to start somewhere, get out the screwdrivers and get it open.

awww you edited my title. hah, yeah I get it

as I said I opened it. took ffc's off one by one (incl screen). did he UEFI and cmos clear.

at first the power came on but no screen. Had to keep the power button down to turn it off, this happened about three times. Then no power at all, no fans, no lights (except the charge light, which I hooked the battery up while it was plugged in and the charge light went orange to white, means it's detecting the battery level just fine). Another possibility that I thought of was hall switch but that wouldn't explain the no-screen before total power death. This is a 2-in-1 touchscreen and getting inside the monitor where the hall switch is, is such a bitch

Here`s a link to the schematic. Can you measure the voltage on all the large square grey coils.

the ones next to the fets? and what looks like diodes? They all read 0 (with adapter plugged in)

all diodes read 0 except one away from the group around the fets

check these, also can you post a few pictures of the DC in area ,both sides of the board, peel back the black plastic sheet beforehand.

                      .

                          Test voltage on PQ201 pins 1/4/5 ,PQ202 pins 1/4/5 ,see page 42 on the schematic.PU201 on pins 1/2/5/6/7/27. PL401/PL402 and PU1901 pins 3/6 .

ok, i've never dealt with fets or voltage controllers before. Is pin 1 the one with the square on the silkscreen?

                            by 1/4/5 do you mean 1&4, 1&5? 4&5?

401 and 402 are coils i've already tested

umm, let me add info. You see the M.2 slot (where the PQ201, PQ202, UH1 are?)

Well it's M.2 2242, which is hard to find good ones, so I got a 2280 and used a small 3M VHB strip to keep it down, looks around where PQ 201 and 202 are. I'm guessing, my dumbass insulated fets, and the heat caused them to die?

flea can you confirm my stupidity regarding putting high bond over those fets?

and help me figure out which ones to test?
