    HDMI switch handshake issues?

    Hi all,

Got a bit of an odd problem with my setup. I have a cheapo 3 in/2 duplicate out HDMI splitter (this one). One output is connected to a HP 24fw display, whereas a computer (800 G1 USDT with Intel HD 4600 graphics) is connected to one of the inputs, and two consoles are connected to the others.

The consoles work absolutely fine with it all the time, but the computer refuses to output video after it's been in standby for a while. The input light flashes on - the output light flashes on - then the output light goes off, then the input light goes off, and this cycle repeats forever. It will only come on after unplugging/replugging a bunch of times.

I know this is a hopelessly vague problem but has anyone got any idea how to fix this? I've tried different cables etc and no change.

    Cheers

When it works, does the PC identify the sink as 'HP 24fw' (PC detects the EDID of HP).
What is other sink connected to the second HDMI output?
Can the EDID mode of the device be set?

      1. Surprisingly yes it does,
      2. Nothing on the second HDMI output at the moment,
      3. Unfortunately not - only DDC/CI settings and they don't seem to affect the problem,

What bios version does the pc have . Looking through the bios release notes - v02.59 Rev.A - Fixed the intermittent S3 resume issue .
If your bios is older that that version update it ,it might fix your problem.

Latest one unfortunately! Only workaround I've been able to find is setting "Monitor Off:" to "Never" in power options. Not ideal but it does the trick.

Are you using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable ,or an an active adapter .

Interestingly enough I am using a DP to HDMI adapter yeah - no HDMI ports on this PC annoyingly.

It looks like your box has the same issue as STARTECH product:

That would make a lot of sense, but unfortunately setting to HDMI doesn't fix the issue for me. Killing the power to both devices seems to be the only way to get it working again.
