    Toshiba 39P2300VE, faulty backlight LEDs

    Hi

No backlight issue with the TV.
Opened up panel and found 3 bad leds in the panel.

    LED is about 3mm x 3mm, i assume they are the 3030 type. Label on the strip is :AG-D1 94V-O 1345 ( 6 leds in a strip )

Thinking of buying and replacing the individual SMD leds. Found some online, but they have both 3V and 6V. Not sure which one i need, any idea how to tell ?

    Thank you.

They look like LG 2835 compatible modules 3V. I do full strip replacement with new if they are available. All the LEDs have wear and the existing ones are likely to fail in the future even with the backlight turned down. Not good to put pen marks on the reflector sheet since it can cause an uneven backlight. A multimeter in diode test mode should be able to confirm they are 3V.

they do light up when using multimeter on them. Does that confirm 3V ?

I just did the test with 3V and 6V leds since I was curious. With the 3V LED, it lit up and read 2.5V. With 6V LED, multimeter couldn't read that high so read as an open and didn't light up.

That is about right, most meter Diode test has 0 -3V with only about 0.5 ~ 0.75mA of test current, you can easily test that using another meter to test open circuit Voltage test ,and short circuit current test to see what you meter can do in Diode mode.
