MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 shows light, fan spin but no chime

    Hi all,

I have a MacBook Pro Late 2013 Retina.

When plugged in, it shows an orange light on the charger (without battery connected) and the fans spin. But after about 15 seconds they stop and then never spin up again. No chimes and nothing on the display.

There is impact damage to the corners of the casing and one of the USB ports is therefore warped. But the logic board itself looks okay from visual inspection.

PPBUS_G3H showing 12.58V at all times.

    Can anyone help?

Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.

Check the resistance to ground of each pin on the battery connector.

Post the readings and scale used on the meter.

                  Hi mon2,

How can I measure these? The pins are covered by the connector with it plugged in.

                        Voltages are good.

So the logic board is power cycling every second?

No that is just what I observed on reading.

What is happening is that board switches on with fan spin, fan spins for about 15 seconds and then shuts off. No chime or display.

Ok but after it shuts off, does it turn on again and repeat this on/off/on cycle?

But it is not a second it spins for @mon2, it is whole 15 seconds of fan spin! Then powers off!

Apply lots of flux on U9300 = PPVCORE_S0_GFX_REG regulator.

Reflow this component to fix up every solder joint on this component - there is a long history of faults linked to this device.
