so the other day i got given a Hot-air rework unit.
while checking it i found a design error.
the result was it was not earthed!
it has a 3pin inlet, a metal case and a metal ended head that uses a mains powered heater in it.
the problem was simple, the earth's are all connected by a screw in the base of the case,
but it was insulated by the powder coating.
so you need to remove the screw and sand/grind some of the coating away inside where the terminals go.
then reasemble & check it.
so if you have a unit that looks even remotely like these you should check it with a meter between the case and inlet.
