Default ESR meter upgrades

so - rotary encoder time.

get your rotary encoder and bend and trim the center pin so it sits on the top of the board - like this:

next, take the original switch off, and scrape some laq off the top of the pcb for the center pin like this:
(only for this model of meter)

next you need a pair of 1k resistors and a pair of 10k resistors and some thin wire.

just to be clear, the place the 10k resistors join the wire is NOT connected to the pcb!

next you need to link the 2 cpu pins to the resistors.

back to the top of the pcb,
solder the center tab of the encoder to the ground-point you remembered to scrape-clean on the pcb.

depends.
if your tester is pretty new and id's as 1.12k then nothing really, just a lot easier to use the menu function.

if your tester is old and running 1.11k or older then probably lots of new stuff.

There is one thing ESR meters should have, which is Kelvin sensing (4-wire measurement capability), which keeps measurement errors to a minimum.
