Sony notebook PCG-492P hardrive installation

I am working with Sony notebook PCG-492P. It does not have hard drive. I want to place a new hard drive
but I look at inside the harddirve compartement I see a male connector. As I see all new 1.8 hard drive have
male pins. My question is Do I need adapter because I can not hook up male with male pin.
This is very new to me.Thanks

Sounds like you are missing the caddy or drive connector. Google the other model # on the unit and you may find the connector.

If you are trying to put a 1.8" hard drive in the 2.5" bay then yes you will need a adapter.

Otherwise on of these videos should help, I couldn't find your exact model.
