Hello,
I have a problem with 17" Asus FX705GD ASUS Motherboard marking: FX505GD MB rev 2.0
I7-8750H with UHD630 and GTX1050.
Laptop switch in on and go to BIOS without delay.
Work stable, ventilators switch on late and keep stable temperature.
It see USB drive. NVME on M2 port and SATA 3 SSD drive.
RAM, GTX and APU, CPU are visible in BIOS.
Any try of Windows 10 boot or USB installation are followed in few seconds try of boot (loading circle visible) and then system reboots. This is reapeated multiple times.
Sometimes it reset during "recovery mode" and sometimes it is possible to go into recovery. Any try of "Windows in safe mode" or other choice occurs in reboots in loop.
Thanks to SMDFlea i tested few BIOS and my one with cleaned ME. Tested 306 and upgraded 307 version BIOS and all is same.
There is some power section in BIOS which i didn't touch.
Tested both on 180W and oem battery with same results. Battery is properly charging.
Measurments:
20,6V on power cord
In BIOS measurements:
L8201 - 1,04V
L8800 - 12,6V
L8300 - 1,22V
L8101 - 3,45V
L8100 - 5,15V
L8004 - 0V - ?
L8003 - 0V - ?
L8000 - 0,85V
L8001 - 0,85V
L8002 - 0,85V
L9401 - 0,94V
L8005 - 0,92V
HM 370 have approx 50*C
Switched off:
L8201 - 1,04V
L8800 - 1,6V no battery
L8300 - 0V
L8101 - 3,45V
L8100 - 5,15V
L8004 - 0V
L8003 - 0V
L8000 - 0V
L8001 - 0V
L8002 - 0V
L9401 - 0V
L8005 - 0V
During reboots:
L8004 - 0,3V for 1s jump just after restart
L8003 - 0,33V
L8000 - 1V before restart, 0,95V just after and then stabilization: 0,85V
L8001 - as above
L8002 - as above
L9401 - stable 0,94 (0V just for few seconds)
L8005 - 1V peak, then 0,92V stable
Resistance with all disconnected, just with A slot ram
L8201 - 25R
L8800 - 360KR
L8300 - 75R
L8101 - 10KR
L8100 - 25KR
L8004 -4R
L8003 - 4R
L8000 - 1,6R
L8001 - 1,6R
L8002 - 1,9R
L9401 - 30R
L8005 - 11R
I found that on MB there is 8 pin keyboard ight/RGB socket, however keyboard have 4pin cable. Looks like palmrest was replaced in past. Maybe someone connected this cable to socket and made some short circuit?
KBC has very slightly discoloured area near TE letters, so maybe this could be KBC fault?
Please kindly help in next measurements/tests, as i never diagnose KBC and PCH communication.
I can borrow oscilloscope, but i never used it for laptop testing, so will need some hints.
Regards
