PS3 Turns Off When Cold but Not When Warm

I have a Playstation 3 fat CECHK02 that will turn off at the start when playing a game or in the XMB but if I let it warm up at the XMB it plays games just fine I thought it could be a hard drive problem so I put a new 500GB SSD in but it is the same so I tried another power supply unit but still the same. I have changed the thermal paste twice now because I have also changed the fan but its still the same, it sounds like a capacitor problem to me but someone on
PSX-Place said it could be the thermal paste under the IHS on both the CPU and GPU I dont want to try to get the IHS off just yet as its would be a careful job and one slip and it will be a brick. This PS3 is on offical firmware and it had never been opened before I got it.

    well it's not the paste,
it does sound like an electrolytic cap, could also be a cracked solder joint though.
