It's arrived and I'm impressed. Firstly the handle is lighter than my current Tenma iron and easier to wield.
The power supply/controller box is smaller than I imagined too.
I've tried it on an old Zsus board i have here and where my old iron would have the heat sucked out of it, the new iron keeps the heat much better.
I am overall impressed with my purchase.
The only down side is that it is a 3 pin iron so my idea of using the Hakko 2032 handle is a bust.

make an adapter, hakko only use more pins for signalling from an optional stand with a switch in it to put the iron in standby.

how hot does the controller get?

That sounds promising stj but i'm in no rush right now. Just to have a fine tip that is permanently hot is quite a revelation. I have just the job for it to do tomorrow morning.
I've had the iron on for a few minutes now and there is a slightly warmer spot on the top of about 33c.
Just set it randomly to 344c and stuck it on my k thermocouple and TM-902C/clone and it measures about 330c so I'm happy with that.
It's lighter in the hand and the rubberised end is nice to hold.

They are practically giving them away this week it seems ! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-...678949947.html

I'm off to find some tunnel tips so I can do SOP8s and a decent holder.

a decent holder will be a challenge - atleast at a reasonabe price.
first thing i did with my duratool blue iron was throw the holder in the bin - before i even powered up the base!!!

I recently bought an Ersa i-Con Nano, after having thrown away money on a pretty disappointing Aoyue. I'm no expert, but it's a great small soldering machine, temperature is reached in no time, iron is very light and handy, everything gives the feeling of having been built well and with care. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
